Day is Done

Ian Pearsall says ‘I’ve always been a listener and I tell the stories of those who recall harder tales than mine’. This is one such time, or is it? The work day is done, the men leave the towering industry behind, harsh work, physical work to head home to a hot supper. Nostalgic, bittersweet, heroic? Perhaps the men in the painting don’t have the time to contemplate but we the viewer do. Who where these men? What are they thinking? Where are they going? One thing’s for sure, they’ll be back here tomorrow, and the next day.
