Ian Pearsall was born in Rhodesia in 1967. He eventually moved back to his parents homeland, back to The Potteries at the age of sixteen.
Having spent the best part of ten years of inspiration lost to dark streets; repetitious, functional houses, the wonder and mystery of post-industry. Ian moved to the countryside on the Staffordshire/Shropshire boarder during the pandemic. This inspired Pearsall to connect with this “other beauty” that he explores in his this his latest artwork.
This particular work is part of Pearsall’s Marks on Maps collection, where the painting has been painted directly on top of an old map, lending a secondary layer of landscape.
