Kay Boyce
Kay Boyce has a delicate use of oils and pastels and her love of antique clothes and fabrics lend a exquisite quality to her workKay Boyce was born in Sheffield. As a child she would often spend hours at a time drawing on rolls of wallpaper; this was the beginning of her passion for art.
Kay Boyce studied illustration at Wrexham College before working as a freelance illustrator. She produced editorial work for Women’s Weekly, Bella, My Weekly, Sunday Express and Woman’s Own. Her illustration work has carried her through to major book publishers such as Hodder and Staughton, Wadsworth Romantics, Mills and Boon and Mandarin. Although Kay is proud of her achievement in commercial illustration her true vocation is as an artist.
Kay’s career as an artist has flourished; her magnificent oils, pastel and pencil drawings have become instantly recognisable. Her work has graced private collections for many years and she is now firmly established as a leading figurative artist.
Her delicate use of oils and pastels and love of antique clothes and fabrics lend a soft feminine quality to her work which appeals to men and women alike.
Kay Boyce has trained in Ballet and contemporary dance (and now Salsa) and it is this that has given her an insight into her subject and an aptitude for reproducing it.
She has been a top published artist with Solomen and Whitehead for many years which has taken her to a finalist for Best Published Artist not just once, but for four years, also achieving a place in Top Ten Living Artists list — at no. 4 in 2004 and no. 8 in 2005.
Kay Boyce is a superb draughtsman who creates her pencil and chalk drawings with a rigorous eye for detail.
